I have some Q's

As most of you know or don't know i'm working on a very large scaled diorama .
But now i started to build my LVCP and that work is progressing splendid .
In between drying process of the LVCP i must remodel some figures.
Now i have the movie The Longest day on DVD ans i have some general idea about the Mae West's that the Navy personel were wearing but i need some more info !
So are there any historians among you that can help me out ?
I need some more detailed pictures especially colored ones .
Also drawings are good .
Why ?
I need to model these Mea West's over some figures i bought so that they can be more accurate .
So please help me out ...

Yours sincerly

Eric

I have the Lindberg version of the kit that I intend to build for the D-Day campaign. Perhaps we can keep in touch and exhange experiences as we go about building.

That's the same one as i have build right now ( Sorry no pics yet )
It is a fairly easy model to build the only thing you need is a lot of Putty to hide the pressure points on the sides and deck .
The figures that are in the box landed in the waste bucket... ( no good ) awfull.....!!!!
So i want to remodel some Verlinden figures so that is why i need that info about those Navy personell........

The Navy did not wear May Wests, except for aviators. There is an Osprey book on US Navy in WWII which has pictures of the Navy and CG boatswains. The Navy usually wore dark blue-grey kapok life vests. These were somewhat bulky with a thick collar and thick pads over the chest. The back was cloth and there were ties at the front.
LCVP personel usually wore an OD helmet (shipboard wore grey) and an OD or dark blue denim jacket. Pants were the denim blue work pants and a light blue shirt. They would be armed with a pistol belt and 45.
I hope this helps. I'm doing something similiar.
