SCENE

[A room, lit only by hobby lights. Tape cordons off the door. Pictures are being taken of the scene of the crime. CAPTAIN JIM BRASS looks on.]

Enter GIL GRISSOM.

'Well Jim, what is it this time?'

'Our old friend is back.'

'The carpet monster?'

'No, much worse...Liquid Cement'.

'...What happend?'

'Its a mess Gil...a cutting mat, not too old...its a mess. Got a pencil too...and a damn ruler. I've had to send a couple of interns home...its just too shocking.'

Grissom nods and takes his camera out, moving into the room and surveying the horror before him.

He snaps some pictures...[GRITTY MONTAGE OF PICTURE TAKING].

Grissom stops taking the pictures. He turns to Brass. I see our suspect didn't make it too far.'

Brass gives a wry smile, 'No, he likes to watch his handiwork...'

Grissom looks determinedly at the scene of devestation before him. 'I guess you could say this suspect has become...unglued.'

MUSIC...'WHO ARE YOU...WHO WHO WHO...WHO ARE YOU...WHO WHO WHO...'

And that bottle looks like it has a good solid base....

Still, could have been a lot worse: it didn't get any of your builds!

It nearly got one! I've spilt Tamiya and Humbrol liquid poly before, it kind of rubs off the markings on the mat but this Mr. Hobby stuff was something else!

Just one more reason I use a sheet of glass. That does look atrocious. As a replacement, if you can find them there, is a thin cutting mat from your local thrift store or Walmart. They aren't too expensive and the only difference I can tell is that there are no grid lines.

Yeah I might check the thrift stores to see if they have anything. I used to have a green cutting mat that lasted for a good long while despite lots of spills and stuff, but I can't remember the brand or where I got it.

Full marks for capturing the droll......

I've had issues with thinners taking up the grid lines on my mat, don't recall any glue disasters.

Mark- I've had the grid lines dissappear too- usually under a bucket load of spilled paint!

Justin- I didn't think of flipping it over until you said that but I went and looked and it has a kind of hard backing so its not much use! I can just hide the disaster with some bottles of paint!

James- The ruler...poor thing...only had it a few months... !
