that book made me a much better amor builder.
iam just geting back in to the tanks and planes.
and i been reading this book alot,

I've got to vote for
How to Build Dioramas, Aircraft, Armor, Ship, and Figures second edition. So much coverage!! It does cover a great deal.
Then the caviate - there is no One book. So I'd couple that with Ospreys Diorama book. Nice pair of books.

I also love Mr. Greenland's book and some of the lil painting ones i.e., Panzer Tactics).

Absolutely voting for everything from Mr Shep Payne.Makes it simple show techniques, suggests easy and cheap tricks and gives solution to almost everything . On the other hand i bought the Osprey military modelling manuals and i am totally dissapointed, such a bad work !!!!!never again

I agree that Shep Paine's books have always best served modelers in general because his techniques and advice is easy to follow for all skill levels. To me they are timeless.

I'd also suggest some of the industry magazines do a good job too. For intermediate level modelers - TMMI (Tamiya Model Magazine International) is a good source for learning finishing and weathering techniques that are popular today.

For advanced and master level modelers, MMiR (Military Miniatures in Review) is the best all-around for construction and building technique. AFV Modeler out of England is the best for capturing weathering and finishing techniques in color.

I totally agree with Gunnie on the magazines. The only armor mags I subscribe to are MMiR and AFV modellar. I have actually cut done on the rest of my mags just to be able to keep them up.

I think Tony Greenlands book had the most influence on me. Prior to that, I had been making mediocre airplanes and large model ships. Still do that, but I make grand 35th scale tanks now, and I get better all the time thanks to the guys in the Armorama club
