Item No. 60553 - 1/72 Jagdpanther Late Production, Hungary 1945

Germany produced numerous types of tank destroyers during WWII, and in the defensive battles that characterized the latter half of the war, they proved very effective. Perhaps at the apex of the tank destroyer evolutionary tree was the Sd.Kfz.173 Jagdpanther. This vehicle was based on the famous Panther tank. The turret was replaced with a well-sloped superstructure that mounted an 8.8cm PaK 43 cannon, with an MG34 machine gun also fitted in the glacis plate. This long-barreled gun, the same as that fitted to the Kingtiger, was a potent weapon, and 55 ammo rounds were carried internally. Maximum armor thickness was 100mm and the vehicle had relatively good mobility. The Jagdpanther was ordered in late 1942, and production of 415 vehicles commenced in January 1944. The 45.5-tonne Jagdpanther fought on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, and took a heavy toll on enemy tanks. Production can be classified into two main variants – an Early and a Late – with primary differences including the mantlet and engine deck.

Dragon Armor is pleased to offer a fine 1/72 scale model of a Late-Production Jagdpanther. The vehicle is produced in stunning and full detail. The sleek profile is accurately represented and the model’s finished in a distinctive camouflage scheme. This consists of a sand-yellow basecoat with green bands. Although the unit operating this particular vehicle cannot be identified, it is known that it fought in the fierce fighting in Hungary as the war drew to a close in 1945. The fully built-up model also carries a suitable amount of weathering to give it just the right air of authenticity.

Item No. 60630 - 1/72 8.8cm FlaK 36 Stalingrad 1942
Pre-order Now! Release: May 2012

The newest 1/72 Dragon Armor is an amazing replica of a German 8.8cm Flak 36 gun, and naturally it’s been newly tooled. Originally an antiaircraft weapon, the “88” was one of the most famous weapons of WWII, and several variants were produced. One of them was the Flugzeugabwehrkanone (Flak) 36, which was in its element when serving as an anti-tank cannon. The 7.4-tonne gun could be readied for action in just 2.5 minutes. Muzzle velocity was 820m/ and it was particularly deadly against enemy tanks. Entering service in 1936/37, it was commonly fitted with a shield to protect crewmembers when engaging ground targets.

Dragon Armor’s first depiction of the Flak 36 shows a weapon in action during the bloody Battle of Stalingrad in 1942, a conflagration that culminated in a massive defeat for German forces. The gun on its cruciform platform is painted in a typical early-war camouflage scheme of gray. This particular weapon has had a stunning career as illustrated by the number of kill marks chalked on the armored shield. This was a legendary weapon of WWII, and Dragon’s model is accomplished in both its level of detail and finish.
