Yes, it’s that time of year again. Time to start saving your hard earned cash for your trip to Scale Model Challenge 2012.
This year the event will take place on Sunday October 14.

]

On 4.000 square meters we present you the complete package: Over 90 traders and clubs from all over Europe will be present, showing everything scale modellers and figure painters could wish for.

Clubs & traders are still most welcome to join us, but as remaining space is very limited now, we recommend registering now.

Our line-up of special guests this year:
Adam Wilder will demonstrate on how to paint convincing metal surfaces on AFV’s.

The Massive Voodoo Team will be represented by a part of their members to lead you in to the realm of figure painting and ultra-creative modelling.

And we welcome back Jay Laverty; editor of Scale Aircraft Modelling. He will show you how to apply various weathering techniques on aircraft (or whatever it is that you wish to weather).

More demo news will be announced soon.

Back by popular demand: online pre-registration for the competition entries. It's cheaper for you and easier for us, so why not take advantage of the opportunity to register your models before the show.

Full information is available on our website: www.scalemodelfactory.nl

We’re also on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/111572712299286 .
Check it for the latest info, in case you need more than what’s available on our website.
And while you’re at it: why not use our Facebook page to check who’s coming, see who you can persuade to buy you a beer, look for someone to share a taxi from the airport with or whatever it is that you wish to share.

We hope to see all of you at SMC 2012 on October 14, 2012.

Now that summer holidays are approaching we’d like to share our SMC 2012 Summer update with you.

The list of traders is online now, which is very handy to help spending your summer. Research has shown that this happens to be the best time to prepare your SMC shopping list. And remember that sending pre orders to our traders ensures you that they carry all the stuff to SMC that you are looking.

The Demo program has been extended with a presentation, followed by a demonstration by Luc Klinkers. Luc is a gifted sculptor, prominently featured in the recent AFV Modeller Made In Holland book, and he will show you that converting or even completely sculpting your own figures may be not as scary as you might think. “Sculpting made easy” in two steps during SMC 2012.

The halls for traders and the clubs are completely full now. Over 90 stands, a further enlarged competition area and the addition of an extra hall make SMC 20102 with 4.500 square meters the largest edition of the show so far.
This year’s SMC also sports several traders with “vintage” kits, so also for those hard to find kits, SMC 2012 is the place to be.

Youth is the future, as the saying goes, so besides the Kids Corner where kids can build models under supervision, we have an RC-Trucks track where children can practice their RC skills. And to top it all: all visiting children can vote for their favourite model in the competition, so there will be a genuine children’s jury…and of course, a prize for the model they consider the best.

For the competition you can benefit by pre-registering your models online and receive a discount on the competition fee.
Competitors for the figures competition please note that there will be a separate registration desk on October 14 and the rules for several figures categories has been changed.

Finally, all show visitors have a chance to win a prize. We will tell you more about it in our September update.

More and elaborate information about all of the above and more is available on our website: www.scalemodelfactory.nl

Hi there,

Less than one month to go until Scale Model Challenge 2012 and here’s a short update:

The lists with traders and clubs are published on our website. We are proud to present more traders and clubs from more different countries than before, and together with an already impressive number of pre-registered models for the competition we have all the reasons to promise you a spectacular show on October 14.

Please note that traders are more than happy to take pre-orders. It will also ensure you that your shopping list has all the boxes ticked at the end of the day.
We are happy to announce the presence of Shapeways, a 3D-printing, or Rapid Prototyping, company. They will show you that this technique is definitely within range of scale modellers.

The demo program is also available on our website; Adam Wilder, Jay Laverty, a squad from Massive Voodoo, Luc Klinkers and Sander van der Does will perform demonstrations covering various disciplines. In short: something interesting for everyone.

If you wish to profit from a discounted entry fee for your competition models, Please register now with the online competition entry form on our website.

For all of you that want to see what SMC 2011 looked like: there is a short video impression on You Tube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkQlAMfTB9k&list=PLW5WIwcaVPCAbxbPBCOaDhTdWEOfJG1w6&index=1&feature=plpp_video

Hello friends,
SMC 2012 is already history, but we would like to thank all of you that were there for making it a great show.
Adam Wilder and Jay Laverty have shown their secrets in scale modelling, and the guys from Massive Voodoo, Luc Klinkers & Sander van der Does have shared their figure painting and sculpting skills to the visitors in different presentations and demos.
The contest results are online now. Please check our website: http://www.scalemodelfactory.nl

We have seen an overall increase in the number of models in the competition again; the number of scale models was slightly surpassed by the number of figures in both historical and fantasy categories.

Next year we will have some cool guests showing their tips and tricks in different demos: José Brito from Portugal, Fernando Ruiz and Pepa Saavedra from Spain, Radek Pituch from Poland, and there is more to come.

See you next year: SMC 2013, Sunday October 13.

In the meantime, we have spotted some pics and reports on the show. Check it out here:

Eric Reist already published his photo report last Monday

Vlado Simic from the dieVincis blog has made a cool report as well
