Anyone have a sure fire way to keep your bottle of liquid glue from tipping over? Looking for something easy, inexpensive and fool proof.

Piece of foam or sponge. Using your handy dandy xacto knife, cut a hole in it the size of your bottle, insert bottle into newly cut hole, and presto, bottle holder upper.

With a standard sponge, say an inch think, you can usally cut two holes, just in case you have two bottles open at once.

And trust me I have been there, many bottle of Tenax have ended up on my desk before I found the sponge method....LOL

Good luck, and keep the glue on the model, not on your fingers or the desk.....

Find an old heavy glass ash tray in a flea market. Epoxy the glue bottle into the middle of the ash tray. I defy you to tip that over.

Get a piece of soft molding clay, the stuff that doesn't harden and press your bottle of glue in it.Make sure it's about an inch or so past the diameter of bottle, works good for paint bottle too.
Don't dare Jessica, you know what happens then.

You could epoxy it to your desk. Just use a tootpick to apply it.

Like the sponge trick, I use pieces of blueboard foam insulation 1 in thick.
Cut a hole in the center,
viola (or some other large stringed instrument...)

Sponge seems to have too much give to me, plus I had leftover foam..

With this method, even if it does tip it is set within its own EPA-mandated containment bund!

Oh, and regarding that earlier "foolproof" comment, remember that if you make it foolproof they'll only go out and develop a better fool...

Howdy

No one has suggested yet to use a drill and cut a hole to size in your desktop. then tack a piece of wood under the desktop to keep it from falling through.

The simplest is often the best! Just mind where you put the glue bottle!? Mine is always in the far back of my workspace. That way you never move your hands over it, and no tipping it... This is not a attempt of beeing funny, it really works for me. Ask me how I learned it?.... I tipped the first two bottles I got, after that I had to find a cure!

I keep all my Tamiya Super Thin bottles and pour my other cements into them and re-label them. Not only is the bottle super stable, you also get the magnificent little brush in that cap.

I have taken the cap from Tamiya spray primer and filled the outer section with plaster for weight. The inner section can be used to hold your bottle. If you want a tighter fit just line this inner section to fit your bottle. By the way, the old 35mm film containers fit perfectly into the inner section. I use this set up to hold my paint thinner.

I have come up wih a better solution. Take an empty, glass paint bottle, turn it upside down, put some glue on the bottle and use some sort of applicator to transfer it to the pieces. I use a toothpick or the eye of a needle to apply the glue. You won't have to worry about knocking over the glue bottle.

I found that the Tenax bottle fit into the center section of a spray paint can plastic lid. In the outer ring I filled it with sand and white glue - no gonna tip over now -

I use an unfinished wood plaque from Michaels, 4"x8", epoxied five 1 1/2" PVC couplings on open side down. Bottle Tenex fits right in and the rest of the plaque serves as a drying board. I can also put open paint jars or whatever else in the other ones, like a bunch of toothpicks, q-tips, etc etc.

Buy glue in a decently designed bottle preventing it from tipping, or from making a mess when it does

Get some organisation on your workbench: everything in its place and a place for everything

drill a hole in a stable piece of wood and place your glue bottle in that hole

Like so:

I use a three tiered shelf I got from the dollar store. I only take the glue down to squeeze out a few drops onto the paint bottle.

You can use the top of a normal can of spray paint. The inner ring is usually perfect for those tall bottles of cement.

Huffing the fumes is just a bonus.
