Hello all,
I think every modeller falls into demotivation when it's time to paint the wheels. Today I tried a new colour to paint those several tyres left apart and yet to be added to three 99% unfinished models: Vallejo's acrylic 70862 Black Grey.
I can't provide photos as my camera's battery is not loaded, but the result is excellent and provides a nice smooth and slightly semi-gloss finish which looks much similar to rubber than black.
And I also found a way to have a satisfying and neat demarcation between tyre and hub: I just applied some thinned colour on the very demarcation line as if it was a pin wash and, when dry, I painted with the same colour when dry.
Vallejo acrylics are not cheap, but it's the first time I try them on "bigger" details: they are a pleasure to work with and, above all, they are not toxic and don't smell, so one can easily use them indoors.
