Hi All,

I just wanted to put in a plug (by the way, I have no affiliation with the store whatsoever) for my local hobby shop, Hobby Town on Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas, NV. I've been there many times before for general stuff, but today, I made a stop after work, looking for (actually, hoping for) certain supplies that I couldn't find easily, even on the internet (I know I'll get lots of responses from folks telling me where to get things but that's not the point here...). This place has EVERYTHING. Humbrol paints, even a discontinued color, every MIG color and pigment, every type of Mr Surfacer, every thinner I have been looking for and could not find, tons of Tenax, which I have read here is discontinued, on and on. I'm a HUGE proponent of buying on line, but I just needed to tell folks that they ought to give their local hobby shops some business, as they may be an even better source for stuff than the 'net! Prices were a touch higher than the on line stores, but not much. I was just so thrilled with the place that I can't say enough. So...as unlikely a destination for models Las Vegas may be, if you're in my 'hood, and are looking for stuff you can't find anywhere else, look up Hobby Town in Vegas

Great hobby shop. A hole wall of armor after market items. I miss shopping there.

You're lucky! Our Hobby Town has nothing of interest kit wise. A few of the re-released Monogram armor kits I built as a kid. About all I buy there is paint, and there is not a great selection of manufacturers for that. Mainly just Testors/Model Master.

Curtis,
Thanks for the info. I'll be in Vegas for the NASCAR race in March. I will go check them out. Not very many hobby shops that have stuff for us armor builders.

I was in Vegas about 4 years ago and walked 6 miles from the strip to the HT and back. Well worth the long walk, even though I couldn't get much due to limited baggage space for the return flight.

The Hobby Town stores in Augusta and Kennesaw (north of Atlanta), both in GA, are very similar to the Vegas store. The Augusta store has a lot of models, AM, paints, etc., but is quite disorganized and cluttered so much it's difficult to walk around. The Kennesaw store is in an old converted multiplex theater, and has a good selection, just not as much armor stuff as the others.

These are the three best Hobby Town USA stores I've been to so far. The one in Columbia (SC), two in Charleston (SC), one in Tallahassee (FL), and one in Jacksonville (FL) are more of the plain-jane variety.

Hey Cabasner, yeah good hobby shop.
I stepped in there several years ago and picked up the Trumpeter M1 Panther II Mineclearing Tank.
Then a few years ago walked out with the MPC Rosco's Police Car in 1/25 for the weapons in that scale

Do they have a casino in there too, with models as prizes?

LOL Nope, no models as gambling payoffs! Good thing, too, as that might motivate me to want to gamble, which I absolutely never do, now!

I was there last month and completely agree. Amazing selection. I've never seen a hobby shop that big and well stocked.

Just to see MIG pigments in person and not just online was new for me. Same with Humbrol paints. I snapped up some MIG washes and pigments since I didn't have to pay shipping.

Oh, plus, they have an RC simulator there...lots of fun! Worth going just for that!

I was in the Las Vegas Hobbytown during Boxing Day Dec 26 sale. I agree. Great store. I picked up a Moebius Bat Pod kit and Concord Publications U Boat War book. I got a relative in LV so I will visit Hobbytown again. I forget the staff's name but he was really helpful.
