I've not seen it but it looks like it isn't getting very good reviews, so maybe you're not missing out on much?

The good news is that its bringing in a lot of money (maybe more CGI WW1/WW2/Korean Air War movies) and better that it is bringing some recognition to these brave men before they are all gone.

The bad news, its a lot of fun but its more like watching Battlestar Galactica or Star Wars combat than actual WW2 stuff. In an era when shows like Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan are giving people a better idea of what it was really like, this is a step backward.

i saw it. its actually a pretty good movie.

george lucas actually had to fund this movie out of pocket because movie companies didnt think it would bring in the money because of a majorily black cast. The movie companies expected the turnouts to be like movies such as soulplane, typer perry films, etc where they attract a crowd, but not enough to make profit.

from the interview by lucas, this movie has been in productions for quite a while.
as mentioned, the battle scenes are somewhat lacking. But, still a good enough to make it a good war flick

Unfortunately, 'Hollywood' has forgotten that you can make great movies that aren't "Action Flicks". They should watch films like "12 O'clock High", "The Gallant Hours", or "Battleground". Movies that have little or no 'Action', yet they tell a terrific story. I think "Tora, Tora, Tora" out shadows the newer "Pearl Harbor" by far, in storytelling, if not 'special effects'. I haven't seen this film yet, but from the looks of what I've seen in 'trailers' and in TV ads, I'm not impressed. I am tempted to see it just to prove that they were wrong, that it is a story that would appeal to only 'Black' audiences. I've seen and watched "Glory" countless times. Al

Hi,
Sorry, Have not seen it yet. Iam also waiting for it to come out on DVD. Not heard many Good reviews and the costs of going to a movie these days are better spent on buying a new kit or some modeling supplies...LOL

Just my 2 cents worth,

Well, that explains why Lucas is releasing the Star Wars films in 3D. He's short on millions.

And Tora Tora Tora was a heck of a lot more accurate. I will take Ben Affleck yelling "Hammer Down!" when he sees Germans to my grave. BTW, I loved how Ben took a train from NY to England. "Pearl Harbor " had every WW2 movie cliche that they could possibly cram into a movie.

"Pearl Harbor" actually can be seen in three earlier movies, all better. "From Here to Eternity" is a better love/human interest story, "ToraX3" is a better movie about the battle, and "Thirty Seconds over Tokyo" is better about the Doolittle Raid".

Likewise HBO (I think) made a better movie years ago about the Tuskegee Airmen. I'll always remember a line, when the Colonel is briefing them on an escort mission and he says "We weren't assigned, we were requested." That supposedly actually happened and it must have been a moment of intense pride for every man in the outfit.

BTW, I too have seen "Glory" over and over, despite some mistakes its a great movie. I wish that someone would make a movie about the 761st Tank Battalion.

I saw it yesterday. It was a classic, as in World War II era, movie. The Germans were not deliniated well, theAmericans were traditional melting pot, well as far as apparent home locale, you obviously weren't going to get the Brooklyn Jew or Italian, the Arkansas farm boy, the Detroit tough and the New England intellectual.

The aircraft looked good, if perhaps a bit too fast. In general, I liked it. And for a $5 bargain matinee on the big screen, you could do a lot worse.
