I’m in the Dublin Chapter of the I.P.M.S and for yesterday’s monthly meeting we were locked out of our venue because of a mix up over keys. While waiting for the pub to open(Sounds bad I know but only alternative venue handy) our Chairman ran across the road back to the venue because he saw some people outside he thought might be modellers. I thought that rather than just accost some stranger and ask "Are you a modeller?" that ideally we should wear badges inside our lapels that we could flash at them and say "Are you one of us?"
So I made this today in case we're locked out next month

How about a secret handshake too? Seems to work for the Masons.

What if you already know the Mason's secret handshake?

Actually the Masons handshake is blindingly obvious, if someone shakes your hand in an unusual manner and then looks at you funny there aren't a lot of things it can be really. Of course there are still the "seven secrets" to truly determine your bona fides.
Maybe with modellers the give away would be the paint under the finger nails and small areas of skin hardened by CA glue?

As well as the scars on the fingers and hands from number eleven blades

Shouldn't the perfect modeling badge be a dulled No. 11 knife blade?? Seems perfect to me...

Either that or a band-aid.

LOL, well I'd be a dead give away on that one, my "battle scar" runs from the middle of my left hand to my watch. The result of an early lesson in the importance of cutting AWAY from your body !
