I customer asked me to make him a Warsaw Ghetto scene of Jews hiding in a sewer while Germans searchd for them on the street above. I spent about 75 hours carving this from a large section of Balsa Foam, using the description provided by the customer.
Questions and comments welcome... and there are several more photos on my Gallery Page link:

Nice dio Keith!

Did you find any takers for your production batches?

No.... I haven't. Normally I don't mind taking a gamble on a piece and just casting it to see what kind of sales it will generate, but this one will be a real "mother" to mold... I'm guessing close to $200-250 of RTV, and then each casting in Dental Plaster will take about 2 lbs of cake.... that adds up to a pretty big gamble. I'll wait another couple of days and see if I get any takers at $45... if not, then I'll just complete this one for the synagogue that ordered it, and try to cast a smaller version for sale in the future that isn't quite as "ambitious"...

The manufacturing business is a bit riskey for a small guy like me... while I actually make some pretty decent revenue on the business, the profit margins can be pretty thin... if I guess "wrong" too many times, I can eat up a month or two of profit from my business.

Did you want to be the first to order one? If I see at least a few people place an order, then I'll take the risk of casting this one...

I have found a handful of white metal rats at my local Dollhouse Miniatures shop... they should do just fine! I'm also thinking of adding a few "bones" (dog, cat?) into the soupy mix of sewer water, just for effect!

That thing would look awesome as a shadow box with one grain of wheat bulb hanging down.. Great work Keith.

Great idea... a little light using a blue or dark green bulb might add a good bit of atmosphere! I was also thinking about a wheat grain bulb inside of a small kerosene lamp sitting on the ground... things to think about!

Your attention to detail astounds me. I can't wait to see it with the water and other items added. Bravo and cheers

I think that warriors produced a similar scene once. It's very different from "standard" scenes, and therefore I like it.
