Thanks you you guys here, I actually made it through my first wash. And I am *VERY* happy with the outcome! It took about 5 different tries, using acrylics, enamels, oils mixed with everything from terpentine to paint thinner to water to window cleaner...

I finally settled on burnt umber oil paint mixed with paint thinner at about 80-20% mix... Now to let it completely dry and then try my hand at dry brushing.
