I'm in North Carolina for a couple weeks and am trying to find some model shops to feed my habit. Does anyone know of any good model shops in the Eastern NC area, other than the ones on Yahoo?

Depends on were you are in eastern NC. There are only two that I know of.
1. Hobby chest on Western Blvd in Jacksonville.
2. Hungates found at the Wilmington Mall and Carytown Mall in Cary NC
That is about the only two around here

I'm in the New Bern area. Today I checked out the shops in the Havelock area and struck out, both where RC shops with a couple models.

I'm in Cary, and the pickings are mighty slim in the Triangle. There's the aforementioned Hungates in Cary, and there are others at University Mall in Chapel Hill, and Northgate in Durham. Though they all stock a fairly decent selection of kits and supplies, everything is a buck or two above list price.

I shop the net almost exclusively. It's nice to be able to fondle the box immediately, but I can't justify the cost.

Slodder,

If you're referring to the HobbyTown on Capital, they folded earlier this year.

Ahhhh shoot. you're right - HTUSA went belly up - the one I should have been thinking of is on Creedmore Road - Hobby Masters
I work about 5 minutes from where HTUSA was so I guess Capital just stuck.

REM being in New Bern NC you are about an hour (With traffic) from J-Ville If you really can't find anything around there The Hobby Chest is your best bet.

Hobby Masters has a good selection, or they did a year ago when I was there. I usually go to Univ. Mall in Chapel Hill.
