Do you happen to know of any shops na may maraming selection ng paints? IMO, I recommend JMN. Everytime I buy a paint there laging bago and fresh. Medyo marami din selection nila. Do you happen to know a better shop?

It's WOULD you happen to know any shops.

Lil's Parksquare has pretty fresh selections of paints: cans, acrylics and enamels. Plus NBS has lots of oil paints, too!

I agree with Jomz; Lil's parksquare is where I buy paints. The problem with Lil's is that they carry only Tamiya paints. I guess it also depends on what brand of paints....

STC sells Gunze paints. They have a wide selection of colors but unfortunately not all colors are available.

Actually I spotted some acrylic paints at True Value Shangri-La. I remember seeing clear gloss, clear satin, and burnt umber among the choices.

I forgot that there are other acrylic paint which are sold in hadwares,, probably because they are not branded as hobby paints. I also forgot that I was able to use a burt umber acrylic paint in my wepe (as seen in my gallery)...I used it to simulate greasy/grimy look of tank wheels and it did the job......The only problem with those non-hobby paint is the odor (bahuuuuu)

May face mask pa naman ako from the SARS era

Anong ginamit mong thinner para sa acrylic wash? Ako usually distilled water or alcohol lang. Sooner or later kukuha rin ako ng ganito kasi feeling ko cheaper sila in the long run compared to Tamiya.

:-) I'm using laquer thinner for acrylic & kerosene for enamel w/c is easily available in small hardware & sari-sari stores & lot cheaper than the Tamiya thinners at okey naman ang result at matagal pang magagamit.

Me, it depends...if the area to wash is coated with "wipe and shine" I use water, else I use alcolol. As for the Boysen acrylic paint I only use water. The water I use for thinning is not the regular tap but the cheapest bottled I found w/c is "Q-Choice"...I also use them in my cars water reservoir for the windshield washer...no water marks...For oil washes w/c by the way is better than acrylic (just my experience) I use the odorless mineral spirit (medyo mahal pero matagal naman gamit huwag lang iwan bukas takip kasi natutuyo).

The boysen paint is actually better than the tamiya, but again tiis nga lang sa amoy...

This may be an old thread but if I may add:

STC offers Academy, Aqueous, Mr. Color and a few Tamiya paints. Plus Vallejo paints (in some branches). Tamiya enamels cost about 65 bucks and Academy (seems like a Tamiya clone) costs 50 bucks. Gunze paints cost a bit less than Tamiya (a peso or so less).

4-eyes, I think its P75 for Gunze or Tamiya.... and they always seem to be out of stock of white.... I like Gunze acrylics because you can brush AND spray with them, but the Academy paints seem to be junk for anything but spraying out of an airbrush... Haven't tried Vallejo but i think its P95 - I think their bottles are about 2mL bigger than the competition though...

I agree. I used to employ Aqueous. But lately, upon the advice of my friends, I switched to Mr. Color. Ah, last time I checked at STC-Sta. Cruz, Gunzes cost around 74.50-75 pesos. Special paints like Metallics cost about 118 pesos.

I strongly recommend Vallejo, It's a water base and has a very good consistency.
