Just a quick note to say MJW Models is now 1 year old!

My Dad set everything up last October (I became a full time partner in March 11) and we converted my Ebay account into a Business account and soon after we ordered our first stock and set up the website. We started trading about this time last year but we had to wait a couple of weeks for our first sale. We had very little to invest and it was slow going at first and the Airfix kits we started with didn't really sell at all as there was too much competition for them.

We decided to concentrate on the more niche brands like Special Hobby and MPM and got a range of kits like the Blenheims and Defiants. After January sales picked up a bit and our decision to go for kits like Blenheims and Defiants proved wise as we easily sold far more of them than anything by Airfix or Revell etc.

An auction of built kits in February and a Business start up grant in March boosted funds, so we could order more Special Hobby/MPM kits in and start up with brands like Sword, AZ and Lifecolor paint sets. Sales went up through February, March and April and then remained fairly constant from May to September. During that time we've increased the number of products we sell and added things like Eduard 1/48 kits, Eduard 1/48 + 1/72 Mask and Etch, Fine Molds kits, Xtrakit/Xtradecal and 3D Kits to our range of products as well as converted our Ebay account into a proper Ebay shop.

I've been going to shows as part of the Riverside Modellers and have been handing out promo flyers as well as advertising on here and other forums. This month our sales have been over twice that of our previous best month this summer! I'm hoping this is a sign of future growth that will repay our hard work. I would like to thank all those who have supported us by buying from us and I hope our service has been satisfactory to all so far.

I would also like to ask all those who haven't tried us to give us a chance and see if we can help you out. I know our website isn't highly advanced and automated but we are here to help and usually respond to queries pretty quickly, so we find just about anything can be resolved by good old direct communication!

We can:
Give you a decent discount on UK Recommended Retail Prices in most cases (Tamiya being a notable exception)
Get a wide range of products in most scales, not just Aircraft (which is our specialisation) but ships and armour too.
If we haven't got what you want in stock, we can most probably get it in for you.
We can accept most forms of payment.
Be contacted outside of 'normal business hours' via email or forums.
Post items within 1 working day (occasionally 2 working days).
Understand what you're on about, as I'm a fellow modeller!
Allow anyone local to us to collect items to save on postage costs.
Also to save on postage, if anyone buys anything from us and there is a show I'm attending around that time, I can also bring the items to the show for collection.
Send items worldwide (please ask for the postage cost first!)
