Here's a tip for those who make silicone molds and make their own resin casts :
During the past few weeks, I've been messing with a new toy : color to dye resin, silicone and other chemical composits that are not water-solluble.
Just the tinies pinhead size of this color is enough to color resin when you cast, as well as molds.
The color has one incredible advantage : you can easily see if your components are well mixed. A smear of component A or B that are not mixed well enough, can ruin your mold. This does no longer happen when you add a dash of color.
Furthermore, it is a lot easier to distinguish colored molds.
This is special dye for such purposes, and it is not very expensive. A tube of yellow, red and blue allow you to also make all shades of orange, purple and green when you start mixing.
I discovered only one disadvantage : too much color can influence the resin curing process.
Anyway, I now use them for every mold or cast I make.
