when submitting a new post I get a "your post has been added" page and a few seconds later an automatic forward to the thread in which the post was added.

In my view that "your post has been added" page can be skipped for an immediate show of the thread page. It's only causing delay.

Yes that is already planned. The older system uses the page you land on to make the update to the database and then you are forwarded back to the topic.
