The EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin will be hosting a new scale model contest and show called "EAA ScaleVenture" on Friday September 30 and Saturday October 1, 2011. Participants need not be members of the EAA or IPMS to attend. Although we are an aviation museum and this contest is heavy on the aircraft build categories, we welcome all other modelers as well. Here are the basic details for those interested:

REGISTRATION

Registration is $20 for adults, $10 for juniors ages 11-17, and free for juniors aged 10 and under. Registration includes: admission to the EAA AirVenture Museum for Friday September 30, 2011, Saturday October 1, 2011, and Sunday October 2, 2011; entry of up to five models in the contest ($1 for each additional entry); and one commemorative EAA ScaleVenture t-shirt featuring the ScaleVenture logo above designed by Chad Hill of Django Studios (first come-first served while supplies last). well, i do happen to remember what won the large scale jets because there was only one entry and it was an f-4 phantom becuase it was the only entry..
i placed 3rd in dioramas but it wasnt my urban warfare entry that i expected to win over my others. i dont know who got first. there wasnt a whole lot of entries for dio's.
there were two dio's side by side made by the same person that was filled with the older tamiya figures. i want to say one of those won.

I saw a couple of other 1/32 scale jets there. I guess they weren't judged. I had the A6E aircraft being towed in the diorama category.
I had to leave early yesterday so I was not at the awards ceremony.

the phantom wasnt on a base if i remember right. so, that was probably entered in just as a jet. the others may have been entered as vignettes or dios? but, i know there were some tomcats without a base. maybe they werent judged. or i may be remembering it wrong

There were a few folks that won awards, but left before the judging was completed. IF you see your name on the list above, but left before receiving your award, please contact me at [email protected]. We know we had some growing pains with this first show, but overall I was very pleased by the turnout and the quality of the builds on display. Amazing amazing work!!! A big THANK YOU to all the contestants, spectators, vendors, and judges for a job well done. And a very special thanks to the seven veterans that participated in the WWII Veterans Panel - THANK YOU!!!!

I will be soliciting feedback about the show via email later this week.
