I thought I posted this once but looks like it errored out (or more likely I did). Anyway, I am going to be adding a lot of stowage to my hummer and need a good system for buckles and straps. I figure the best route for my current skill level would be to get some photo etched buckles. Does anyone know of a good company or product to use for buckles? And what do you use for straps (my focus is mostly modern era is that helps)?

Hey Drew,
Eduard or Aires may be a couple of places you can check out for the PE. You can use some lead foil for the straps.

O.K. one question on lead foil for straps. What size do I get. I can get .008, .016, or .032. which size is best for straps?

You could even cut strips of paper for the straps....You can gauge the wide by the buckles on the PE. As for the foil, you'll have to cut it, too. I used paper straps for my 32 scale 109.

Just my 2 cents...

80 g copy paper works fine for straps. Using brown ink, youŽll have a very nice used leather effect on them with minimum effort!
All plastic that is thin enough, works. I used a slice of regular plastic shopping bag for my sniperŽs rifle strap.

I keep all tubes from acrylic and oil paints. Also is toothpaste tubes. Cut these open and then use the material (Is this like lead foil?) for straps, belts, etc. Great item to have laying around for scratchbuilding. /Frank

The "yellow" tape that is being used to protect windows while painting the woodwork will do very nice. It's a bit thicker than scotch-tape. It enables us to make a pattern in the seatbelts. Since one side has glue on it, it can be very easily attatched to the model.
