Today (2011-06-18) the new Swedish military museum "Arsenalen" opened its doors to the public. Take a look at the photograph report on "The Assembly"

With the exception of barriers around some vehicles this looks to be based around the same approach that Bovington uses. You will have to send us a photo report when you get a chance Frank.
Thank you

What is the vehicle with the TOW launcher that Erik Gustavsson is in?

Surprised to see a Strv-122 on display.

As Heinrich says, its a Pvrbv 551 (Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551/ Anti-tank missle tracked vehicle). 57 of these were delivered to Swedish defense forces between 1984 and 2000. If you are interested, I can post some of them. I have 12 images in total, taken from all sides.

Thanks for your comments guys!!

Thanks Frank, this is quite interesting.

I was wondering about the M8, was it still fitted with an M6 gun or did it mount something else?

That would be great. I found the IKV 103 pictures on Prime Portal and that is an interesting road wheel and suspension configuration. The track shoes look familiar for some reason. The RBS-70 carrier is intriguing as well.

Hi guys.
To be honest, I know very little about these vehicles. Hopefully Thord Wedman or some of the other knowledgable Swedes drops in, as they probably can answer more of your technical questions.
I´ll post the Pvrbv 551 later, when I have some time.

As far as I know, the M8 is not converted. Sweden commandered a few of these in the Congo and used them there. The one in the museum was a bounty exchange with Belgian forces, and not actually used by the Swedes ... as far as I know.
There were some M3 scout cars also used. There was one of them in the older Axvall museum, but as this new museum is a collection from 3 different museums, a lot of vehicles are in storage and will be on rotation.
Its about an hours drive from where I live, so hopefully there will be more trips in the future, where I can gather more info and images!

Hi Paul.
I wasn´t aware of this until last night (modern armor is not my main area of interest), when I was doing some online browsing looking for AM details for the CV9040b kit from Academy, when I spotted AFV Club´s workable "Big foot" tracks (kit # 35133) are designed for M2A2, M-3A3, AAV7A1, MLRS Late and CV90. Must be why they were familiar!
Theres a review on PMMS for them. They´re on their way now from Lucky Model, and after Terry´s review it will be interesting to see how they fit on the Academy CV90 kit.

It was good to see a current photo of Janne, (the gentleman with the silver chin hair) I met him at world expo Boston and a friendship was formed. I can't speak high enough about attending forums like these as well as model shows and museums that bring people with the same interests together. It looks like everyone had a good time. Now if anyone would care enough to finance my trip, I'd go see the place myself!

Hi John. Janne told me he met you and enjoyed a good laugh together in Boston. Not often he gets labelled a gentleman though!!!
I´ll be attending Euromilitaire for the first time this year (together with Janne) and hopefully I´ll bump into a few "names" I know from here as well. Ive been talking to people for years on these sites and it would be great to actually meet them in the flesh!

With all the armor museums in Europe, I'm going to have to pinch pennies until I can afford a tour.

Its always the way ... we want to see the museums in the US, and you guys want to see the museums here. Its hard enough trying to see those we have here ... Id settle for the moment to see a few of them.

Paul; Ive posted the images of the Pvrbv 551 tonight. You can see the images Here .
