Ok, first post and I hope I don't get flamed or start a massive debate, but I am wondering who is the best model tank manufature?

Who has the broadest range of tanks from WWI clear to present?
Who has the most consistent scale?
Who has the best product?

etc, etc....

This isn't an easy answer because there isn't one manufacturer who encompasses everything to begin with. WWI is going to be a tough subject, so you may be better asking for specific vehicles.

Dragon is normally regarded as the current industry standard for quality and subject matter, but again they don't have everything and they do have issues from kit to kit as all manufacturers do.

Many will swear by Tamiya's engineering, but they don't have the selection that Dragon has, nor are they consistently accurate. But they do have many very excellent kits that will give anyone a run for their money.

Trumpeter and Hobbyboss are who you will mostly want to look at for modern vehicles. They are proving to be very competitive with Dragon but do also have issues from kit to kit.

Special cases for modern vehicles would include Dragon's M1A1 and M1A2, Tamiya's T-55, and Bronco's Humvee.

Most kits out there are going to be pretty consistent with scale.

Just out of curiosity, what is the source behind your question?

IMHO Tamiya are the ones that I enjoy building the most

Dragon are more complicated but still doable, and usually more detailed.

I built a couple of AFV Club and they went together okay.

Tamiya, overall. But other companies do better in some areas.

Andy, welcome to Armorama. Was there something specific you were looking for in tanks, or just general. As mentioned, Tamiya offer the most variety. Dragon the broadest range of German subjects and Shermans. Trumpeter and Hobby Boss offer a number of modern subjects. AFV Club, MiniArt and Bronco offer a number of British tanks. The newer releases are all much better for scale. The above is for 1/35 scale, but if you wanted 1/72 Dragon and Trumpeter offer a fair range.

All have pros and cons, and the price range is very broad. If you want details about a particular model, you can check the reviews section here or hit the search bar at the top. Ask as many questions as you want. You'll always get help here.

If you are looking at 1/72, Revell is an excellent choice as well.

Well, interesting question and it's quite hard to answer

Regarding just the tank kits my personal list is:

DML has the deepest range of versions and maybe the best reproduction quality

Bronco and Miniarm have the most original products

Tamiya still has the best engineered products

And I love Trumpeter because is interested in eastern subjects

Just my two cents anyway...
