I think I post a question in response to the most dreaded part of modelling. Say what you liked most about modelling. For me it's:
1. Painting camos.
2. Weathering
3. Installing Metal gun tubes.

Adding the little detail parts on a tank, Accessories, etc. Camo painting, I like the use of rubber treads. And mostly I have to say that when it is finished I get to sit back and looking it over I am satisfied that everything is where it is suppossed to be and the paint colors are the way that I had hoped and worked so hard for it to be also.

1. That feeling you get when you stop and look at whatever you just finished (one step, a single process, or a whole model) and realize, "Whoa, that really looks good!".
2. The feeling you get when you try a new technique that you heard about somewhere, or just dreamed up yourself, and IT WORKS!
3. The feeling you get when your 9-year old asks you, out of the blue, if you can show him how you did that. (OK, maybe this one is personal to me, but God that felt good!)

One of the funnest parts for me is adding all the extra details. I like adding stowage or extra equipment that makes the model unique and realistic. I also like weathering and detailing with oils once I have the base coat on.

:-) Major Penny you have a certain masochistic streak it seems! The ground work and end details such as decals sometime seem a chore to me. I most enjoy:

What I like most is maybe sketching things, letting the idea wander here and there, then putting it on paper in an instant.
In modeling itself,
1. The smallest details, hotspots of the model
2. Weathering (especially exhaust dirt)
3. Adding all the little stuff that shouldn´t be there
Right now I´m looking forward to the day when my Schwimmwagen is ready and I can place a bottle of Moselwein in the hand of the drunken driver. Label for the bottle is already printed (it´s readable!) and all I have to do before the last climax is to build, paint and weather the car and the driver.
:-)

PS. Hey CaptainJack, what country are you from? Technicolor?

dave,
the eyes are not that bad to do. faces used to be hard, but with much practice it is now my favorite part of a figure to do. i also like to put photoetch on armor and softskins, but only for enhancement.

I like to:
1) glue all the main assemblies together
2) use my airbrush - no matter what I'm painting!
3) play with the finished model, making appropriate sounds! *BOOM*

I like a lot of things but a few of the most desirable to do is:
Making houses etc for bases and ground work for that matter
Converting and scratch building
Weathering anything!
To put a finished piece on the shelf and start a new one!
Buying models is always great fun!

I like " think building". When you "think build", every thing goes perfect. Actually "think building" is when you plan in your head what you want to accomplish with a particular model, and how to make it happen.

Scott,
Amen there. I hate cleaning the airbrush which in turn has made me dislike painting.

Pak,
can you please tell me more on the sponge method, or do you know an article about it ?
Sounds like an alternative for some jobs to me !
