uestion: How to make clothes for clothes line

I am trying to make a diorama with some soldiers taking a brake and washing their clothes. The clothes are either draped over the barrel of their tank, or on a clothesline. Can someone please advise on how to create semi-decent looking Russian tanker coveralls, or uniforms in general? Thanks
