Hello!

This is my second full hull naval project. Again in 1/35. And scratchbuilt.

This time, a sovier river monitor, built originally in 1908, participated on the Russian Civil War, on the First and Second World Wars and was only dismantled in 1954.

Here's some of the pictures I found on the internet:

Source:

This ship is armed with a 76mm mountaing gun and two Maxim Mg

I used this picture to help me build the cannon

All together, it became this:

The central structure of the ship:

The closing of the hull:

Sanding with an electric carwash brush transformed in a sander…

The riveting:

And a dryfit, to see the whole picture. I opted to buy the Maxim Mgs from Zvezda, the stanchions, propellers and ventilators from Amati, as they were difficult to scratchbuild:

The painting started by these small parts

I used the salt technique to imitate rust and cracked paint

Some kitbashing and other parts to build the signals light

Now I need some help, does anyone has any information about that part circled in red? I believe it to be some cables used to control the rudder, but don't have any pictures of how it works, even from other boats…

You have mail sir.
I've got quite a bit of info/drawings/plans etc showing chain/cable rudder setups (just too lazy to add to Photobucket and post here).

Put this in the water with a crew and I'd challenge anyone to say that it is a model.
