I am a long time Fan of tablet computers and with the recent release of the Acer Iconia A500 I bought one, mostly for use in Roleplaying, replacing books, maps etc. But I quickly realized that the pad is useful in model building too
Long running so it will last through a day at a convention
Half the weight of a netbook
Screen good enough to show photos
USB for easy data exchange
No moving parts so it can stand transport
Useful for carrying around reference pictures, work in progress stuff, list of models and kits done/owned. And you can write the I was there report while you are there, pull pics from your digicam and have it all up on armorama before the convention closes :-)
I have mine sitting on a shelf above my workdesk currently where it displays pictures of the Duster i use as a reference. Got a kapazative stick so i do not touch it with paint fingers. Again more useful then a netbook since there is non keyboard taking space.
So my netbook goes back to programming and likes it
