What is your favorite part of building a model? I enjoy the assembly the most. The more details the more I like it.

Me too, Matt.
The more bits it takes to build the beggar, the better.
Taking literally hundreds of tiny bits of plastic and constructing an "accurate" representation of a vehicle or aircraft is what "floats my boat". Which must be why I've got about 5 on the go at once. :-)
Though I must admit since I got an airbrush and I don't have to look at my awful hand-brushing skills, seeing them actually looking like miniature real vehicles is pretty good too.

The best bit about building is finding my own solutions to what the model should look like, and the purpose of the model. I can't just build a car for it to just be a car. I think there should be a story/purpose to the model. Some see a dodge charger, I see the car from the video game Half Life 2 episode 2. Some see a VW beetle, I see a ratrod.

I have (almost) never built a model out of the box. I have a HUGE urge to exercise my plastic saw and a whole lot of putty...

Long story made short: Scratchbuilding and kitbashing models is the way to go for me!

To loosely quote this gentleman:

To rip the PE-parts from the sprues, to sand of oversized bits from the plastic and to smell the glues binding both together!

Assembly is by far the best part of modeling for me. It is so relaxing.

Project research & construction. Those are my favorite parts of modeling as I find them relaxing (most of the time) Another thing I enjoy is talking to other modelers & sharing ideas. I guess that's why we're all here. I've learned quite a bit on this forum & the others that I'm on.

I like the entire project, planning, building, detailing, painting, researching, photographing, weathering. I find enjoyment and relaxation in taking a bunch of plastic and metal parts, some fabricated by my own hands, ending up as a faithful miniature rendition of a particular full scale prototype.

I like a lot of you, like a lot of detail. If I can't buy it I'll builded it., but my top love is all the vehicle or apparatus research. The more information you find the better you project will be.

im in it for the chicks......in all honesty, i enjoy the recreating of a piece of history. i look back at the models ive created and think that it was a daily lifestyle for those in the military in the early 40's.
