Valleycon 21, sponsored by Wings & Wheels Modelers/IPMS, New England’s largest and most affordable model contest is coming up on Sunday 27 March 2011. Our location remains the same, the Knights of Columbus hall at 460 Granby Street in Chicopee MA. The site is conveniently located with easy access from I-90 and I-91. We have sold out our vendor room, with almost 55 vendor tables, including Rare Plane Detective, Olde Depot Hobbies, The Time Machine,, Craftec Hobbies, Sentinel Miniatures, AlpenflageHobbies as well as our usual assortment of private vendors. Every area f interest for modelers will be represented in out vendor room. We will continue our tradition of a super raffle /door prizes as well.
This year, the automotive and aircraft classes will continue to be judged in traditional IPMS style (1-2-3 awards). All other categories will be judged using the so-called Chicago open system developed by Shep Paine and used extensively in the figure world.
Out hosts will again offer hot lunch on site.
As a special feature, we will have a display of several PT boat dioramas from a locally noted collector and PT boat aficionado, Frank Andruss.
General admission is $2.00 per adult. Registration is $2.00 per model. Children under 16 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult and get their first three entries free. Doors open at 9:00 AM and registration runs to noon. Judging will begin shortly thereafter and we hope to have awards ready before 4:00 PM.
