Not very well. It may partially dissolve the paint but the paint messes with the bond.

Ciao Giacomo
To be honest i don't think so and i've never tried to glue painted parts. I always use the thin cement on bare plastic.
However may be the Tamiya glue can solve also the cured acrylic paints (acrilic pigments are actually made on plastic), and that could be the reason why it works
But this just a humble opinion

The other problem is that model parts are engineered to fit perfectly to each other as molded, not with two coats of paint on the mating surfaces. In my experience you just can't build a good cohesive model with pre-painted parts.

I noticed while building my DANA spg..the Tamiya glue would actually remove paint around the joint!! I use MM enamels, and find paint on the brush after touching it to the model. I always thought it was the acetone in the glue?

You've obviously never assembled an Airfix/Frog/Heller/Matchbox kit
