I too am concerned as I have been through a lifetime of floods and fires in southern California. Queensland and the rest of Oz just not getting deserved coverage here on the west coast!
Hope all are well, dry, and coping with it all!
Cheers for any dry spots!

Its an extremly serious situation up there at the moment and glad your high and dry there Ian. Some of the stories coming out of the Brisbane and Toowoomba areas are heart breaking. Its the only time I feel sorry for a Queenslander.

Anyone else from overseas, jump on any of the local papers online and have a look, the dailytelegraph.com.au site is a good one.

I just received word that my relatives in Towoomba are safe, albeit a little shaken. Their garage and car were damaged, but their home is safe.

My thoughts go out to those families who were not so lucky, and I sincerely hope that many of the missing are found alive.

Stay dry, stay safe,
Alex

I'd echo Graham's comment about how eerie it is to be so close, and yet luckily not be impacted personally. Queensland is a great place to live (I moved from the other side of the world to be here) and the people will work together to help the unfortunate ones put things right. Hopefully no more big rain this summer.

Cheers

Simon

And I think our leaders, state agencies and SES have done a phenomenal job in minimising casualties after the initial flooding in Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley.

I live in Brisbane and our Suburb just missed out on the Floods. We were ready to move but luckily the waters didn't come near us. The City Flood Maps showed that it could come within a few Feet of our house but didn't eventuate. To all brother Qld'ers who suffered, my heart goes out to you as I well remember the 74 Floods and what damage that caused. I hope and prey that you will be quickly back on your Feet.

I am on the northern side of brisbane, and no where near the floods. But being in the SES i was there for the storms before, helping make and distribute sand bags, help in a flood boat evacuate people from flooded suburbs, then help in the clean up. I'm glad its over, but with 3 possible cyclones over the next couple of weeks, the flooding could be worse than 1974.

yeh i hear ya Matt ive been at several school's in the affected areas this last couple of weeks and man what a mess they are, this is going to takes months to get things back to any kind of normality.
them cyclones aint good i just hope they die out before they get too close or at least arent too severe, either that or we start building an ark (a bloody big one).
cheers,
Graham
