Time to replace my aging Canon powershotA410 and I was looking at a choice between the Fujifilm FinePix S1600 and the
Nikon Coolpix L110 for use as a general family camera as well as shooting pics of models

I then found the FUJI FinePix S2500HD for the same price.

Anybody any opinions on what I should go for?

well, I can only speak for the Fuji one: i have the predecessor tor the model you're looking into (the s2000HD) and I couldn't be happier. you get a big lens so no detail is left out, you can use the macro feature with ease - and it also has a super macro mode which is superb for taking shots of extra small parts or details. plus, it lets you play with almost every setting possible - lighting, ISO, 'F' factor, white balance and more.

as for the Nikon - i dont know that one. I guess that by using google you could find a cameras' review site that lets you compare between 2 cameras.

couldn't go wrong with either though

but most of the time for macro work i pick up my fuji s8000 before i use my nikon dslr

i'd probably edge towards fuji for compacts and macro work they are hard to beat good all rounders !!
