Hello,

I was finally able to settle on a compressor, but now I need a regulator/moisture trap, as mine comes without one. Are they all pretty much equal or are some better than others? Matt was kind enough to point me in the direction of getting one that goes from 1-60 PSI and has 1 PSI increments. Are there any that anyone would recommend? Here is the compressor I'll be getting for reference (I'm picking up an Iwata airbrush to go with it):

Thanks in advance!

OK. Here are the two regulators/moisture traps that I've found. One is cheaper than the other, but I can't find any discernible reason why. The only reason I am leaning toward the Badger regulator is that it seems to have single PSI measurements on the dial, which the cheaper one does not. Anyone care to give a recommendation?

Cheaper one:

I'm assuming there would be no issue with using a Badger regulator with an Iwata hose and AB?

Thanks!
Russ

Ahoy Russ,
The compressor you are buying as in the photo, already has a regulator,
from what I can see.
So you really only need a moisture trap. Now the biggest problem with
moisture, is that it usually builds up in the air hose, so what you really need
to get, is the moisture trap that installs on the air hose very close to
the AB.
Iwata and Badger both make this type of moisture trap.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Joe

Hi Russ,

Sorry I missed your subsequent post. Go with the Badger. Regulators have standard 1/4" fittings, so it will fit both compressor and hose. Also look Here:

I see you're in Illinois. Dick Blick has 7 stores in your state and Chicago Airbrush Supply is in, well, I'll let you hazard a guess!

Thanks All!

Matt - thanks for the feedback. What was throwing me off with the Badger was the two brass connections that show in the picture. I was concerned that those might not be compatible with my compressor. Sounds like that won't be an issue.

I'm actually in Chicago myself and have been in to Chicago Airbrush Supply. If you don't think there would be much difference between the Paasche regulator and the Badger I linked above, I'll simply pick that up when I'm in there this weekend buying my AB (finally).

(I'll also check out Dick Blick. I used to go there all the time for regular art supplies...I never in a million years thought they would carry an airbrush regulator!)

Thanks again!

Cheers,
Russ

Hi Russ,

The Paasche works the same as the Badger. If you're in the store anyway, why pay shipping?
I'm not sure what comes with it. You may need connectors. If that's the case, Chicago Airbrush or any hardware store can set you up with a brass 1/4" male/male connector (and teflon tape for the threads) on each side of the regulator.
