G'day all, first post on the 'telegraph'. I'am looking for some info/advise on some 1:72 kits I'am thinking of doing for the upcoming "Land Down Under"
campaign starting on ANZAC day next year.

Airfix Bofors and Morris CD/SW 30 cwt 6x4 tractor: Did Australian AA units use the Morris tractor with their Bofors in North Africa??? If so what would the number be over the red/blue RA unit marking be?

IBG Chevrolet CA15 truck series: Australian units used these in North Africa, yes? The Cab no:11 and 13? Was wanting to do a lorry from the 9th Division, had a great uncle serve with them over there.

Airfix Matilda:I recently picked up the new Hedgehog release,I'am planning to build it as just a "normal" matilda in the pacific, are the unit decals appropriate? And does the models itself require a lot of modification to be the Aussie "version"?

Matchbox Stuart: Was planning to do one from the Buna campaign. Is it feasible to modify this kit to the Aussie "version"?

I also have an obscure question that I don't know if anyone can help me with, but I'm looking for information on the 2/9 Field Regiment R.A.A.
I had another great uncle who served with the unit in Africa but have had little luck finding any info with internet searches and the War museum website.
He is listed as a Gunner in the limited records i found on him,but the unit seemed to be attached to the 'Australian Corps Troops' (and was attached to the 6th div. in Syria). Was the Aust. Corps Troops a suppy unit??? I was hoping to do a kit to represent his unit.
I know that's a lot of questions but I would like to try and get things right for this campaign.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers,
Tim

Tim, I do not believe we used the Morris Tractor and used the Chevy and Ford 30 or 15CWT as a gun Tractor for both the Bofors and the 25 pdr. Try finding the old Australian Military Publications on the 25 pdr by Mike Cecil as hit has some stuff on the Tractors.
Also try the AWM photo collection by searching unde Gun tractor or similar. THe lP3 was used for the 18 and 25 pdr in Greece and NA but I do not know of any kits
These pics may help:

I'll have a look around for the book you mentioned,my problem at the moment is a lack of resouce books etc. Have found a little on the net and i'am looking at buying a coupla good books on Aussie equipment, just haven't been sure where to look and there's no physical military bookstore in town. Thanks for the advise and taking the time to answer my long list of questions!
Cheers,
Tim
