you got a link for said membership program? Curious to see just what this is. Based on past performance I imagine there are those that will run the other way. "Q"
edit...I went to his site and found it. $35 to get what I already have for the most part for free huh? I'll pass...

After all the flak in the forums over this guy I just had to check out what he is peddling. Anyone know off-hand which "biggest military website" he is supposed to be in cahoots with?

I followed the links on his spiel, and it took me to a Kitmaker site

Indeed it does! I think I need to ask Jim S about how all this works, because I certainly haven't contributed my intellectual property (reviews, blogs, postings etc) to Armorama just to have them handed off to boost a merchant's commercial enterprise. I see that access to the network from the Tankrats forum is limited at the moment, but by clicking on the on-line users I could get to all their stuff through their profiles just as I could here on the big A.

If Tankrats (a commercial concern) wants any of my contributions I would expect regular royalty checks to arrive in the mail...

Yes. TankRats AFV Depot does indeed have a sub-site within the KitMaker Network. Much like SCAHMS and our IPMS-UK club sites, although their site is technically 'out of network' which means it doesn't show up in the browse sites area, etc. It was setup with the proviso that they follow the same basic rules and policies our other sites follow in terms of what they post, etc.

As far as I understand the way his club is working. The membership fee is mostly for access to special pricing on their store and other perks. KitMaker does not get a share of any membership fees from them, nor do any primary pages on that site pull content from our sites. That is of course discounting dynamic pages like profile pages that list all your features and reviews, etc.

If someone has some ongoing issue with them (that is not simply a "I don't like that guy" type of complaint) please feel free to contact me.

KitMaker is also a 'commercial' entity btw.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

Thanks for the clarification of the "firewall" between Armorama and the Tankrats forum - I have nothing against him personally.

Ummm......Tankrats is coming to IPMS AMPSEast 2010 in Connecticut? That WILL be quite an event, since he hasn't bought any vendor tables yet!
