I have a few figures from days of old whihc I would like to recycle but I need to know how to remove the paint without being too aggressive. I seem to recal reading somewhere that its possible to put the items in a plastci bag and spray oven cleaner in, leave stand for 24 hours then wash off with soapy water. Any suggestions?

Cheers

Yest it works, I never sealed the models in a bag I just put them in a plastic container (without a lid) and spray them with the oven cleaner and let it work overnight, then i wash them with warm (not hot) water and liquid disk soap using an old tooth brush to remove the residual paint from the recesses. You can also use brake fluid and soak the figures in it, but sometimes it can be aggressive with some kind of plastic.

Take a look for Floquils "Easy Lift Off" it's a fatastic paint remover. I have a figuer sitting in some right after a botched camo attempt. this stuff has saved me $100s in kits that might have otherwise bagged and never gone back to.
It'll run about $10-$15 depending on the size of container you buy.

I've used Liquid Wrench too, it attacks the cement bond too, but may cause crazing on smooth finishes.

What brands of oven cleaner seem to work the best? Or is one pretty much the same as another? I have a Pz III that I got carried away with the paint on that I want to recycle.

Thanks for the help!
