I'll be visiting taipei in july to attend the taipei toy convention and would like to visit some hobby shops if time permits. I'm into armor and figures. Anyone has any tips or links to lists of hobby shops in taipei?

I've lived in Taiwan for 7 years now. The best model shop here is MPK in Taipei. Here is their website.

This is THE best shop I've found, anywhere in the world. English is no problem. Just tell the proprietor that you're a friend of Ted's, from Minsyong (I live about 3 hours South of Taipei). Email me at:

Just got back from taipei, and I must say I had a wonderful time there. Too bad I didn't get a chance to visit MPK or meet up with Ted, but maybe next time!
I did get a chance to check out the shops in one of the building "mall" in ximen ti and also check the miniature museum. Breath taking to say the least.

Nice selection, cheap and a friendly & helpful owner. Going to check out MBK today after work since it's pretty close to where I teach.
