Hi! I am a n amateur aircraft-modeler who lives waay back in Norway. I've worked for a couple of years now, and I want to advance from amateur to advanced. And therefore, I've learned a lot of techniques from my good pal the internet, but unfortunately, these techniques require tools/paint they don't sell here
My biggest problem is the panel lines, I've tried the normal washing technique, but the effects are too grimy. The airplane gets too dirty.
I've heard about something called pro modelers weathering wash, but I can't find anyplace that sells it!
Is there some kind of substitute I can use instead? something I could buy from a local paint store?
And by the way, does anyone have any good techniques for paint chipping?

Hello John, there are probally alot of other people who have a better technique, but for simplicity sake; 1 paint the model. 2 seal it with a clear ( opaque ). 3 seal model again one day later with clear. 4 let clear dry for two weeks. 5 mix wash ( alot of thinner or water [ depending on paint type] and a little paint. 6 take small brush ( long and thin, sharp point ) and slowly and steadly apply wash to panel lines, border of raised or lowered areas/ objects. 7 let wash dry one hour. 8 take small container of thinner or water [ depending on paint type] put on brush then slowly and firmly scrub outside area of wash to blend ( soften) border of wash and paint. 9 practice this until you are happy with results. 10 let model dry three days 11 put small amount of paint on brush, wipe off most of paint, then softly touch brush around wash border. TRY ACRYLIC PAINT. IT MIXES AND CLEANS WITH WATER AND IT IS INEXPENSIVE ( CHEAP) AND NORMALLY CAN BE FOUND IN CRAFT STORE, DEPARTMENT STORE, ART STORE. I made this explanation simple so it translates easy. - good luck - Bobby
