Ok Guys,
I've been seeing several request for "how to paint tracks."
Here is the idea, why dont we come up with a article written buy several of us together on how to do such a thing. we can each put or two cents worth and then pass it on to the next person and so on and so on until it is finished, Then we give it to Jim to post it. Sort of like an Armorama Family combined article. each person writes down about a paragraph or two and just pass it on.
Any takers????????????

Ok Gunnie. I'll start righting up a paragraph or two and I'll send it to you or vice versa. Will get this ball rolling!!!!! I bet in the next day or 2 will get some more volunteers. Since where are only writing a short paragraph, we should have this done in a couple of days.

WELL THATS ONE!!!!!

Heck, should be as easy as copying and pasting out of the "painting tracks" threads already on the site.

Captain, just e-mail your contribution to who ever participates, and when we all think wwe are satisfied with the finish product, we send it to Jim.

Rob, what ever will work. As for me, I havnt contributed to the threads because you guys provide such great info. But i thought it would be easier for somone to just go to one place and find all the info they wanted.

Painting German WWII tracks:

Assemble the tracks, more then likely I would use Fruil tracks. Then airbrush with Humbrol #173, let dry. Give a wash with brownish/tanish oils, let dry. After dry drybrush with crome or some silver color.

For rusty tracks, after airbrushing with humbrol #173, give wash with rusty (orange-brown-reddish) colors in oils then finish with real rust powder.
Thats my 2¢

I'd be happy to describe the "chemical" methods for finishing the Friulmodel and other White Metal tracks.

As a matter of fact, I even have a set to finish this week. So, I could even show some "in progress" shots.

Let me know what you think

Definatly TANK. Write up something small. After the weekend, I guess I'll be the main collector for everything, unless someone else wants the job, we will start collecting the bits and pieces.

The idea was to put it all in one article and put it in one place so you dont have to search threads. Plus its a good Armorama community thing to do.

After the tracks are painted, put them on the tank.

That's my conrtibution.... do I get a prize?
I've got the 'track painting' thread in my favorites list. Before I saw that, I was clueless about how to paint tracks.

Having assembled 4 sets of AFV M-60 tracks and painted them I will contribute a little about the modern "pad" tracks... sounds like a fund collaboration.

Where do I send my contribution?

to whom it may concern: please do not use to much rust paint on tracks, it looks awful and if tracks had that much rust on them they would fall apart.
also, the tracks on german mk lll's and lV's should be tight, not loose. they were narrow and notorious for throwing tracks. :-)
