Also keep an eye open on this site as many moedellers have models for sale at great prices and ALL that I have dealt with are EXCELLENT people!!
One of the guys that has been a exceptional person to deal with is milvehfan. You might want to contact him as he usually has many kits he is willing to find a good home for as he says.

Hello Henry,
You could give a look over at Section 8 hobbies. Justen just opened live on-line last week. I've bought from him and will continue as he is trust worthy and prices a great. What you can't Justen will get and shipping excellent.

Section 8 Hobbies

Look them over and maybe give them a call.

I've dealt with HobbyBuy.com - great service, great prices, very fair shipping. Also recommend SprueBrothers- great experiences there, as well.

And, heck, I can vouch for Milvehfan, as well!

But great deals, and I mean GREAT, as in you can handle the merchandise and get it for very fair, even really cheap prices, are to be had at about any model show. And the diversity of kits on hand can be simply mind-blowing! Extra added bennie: you get to see oodles of cool builds and meet lots of neat people! So... I would recommend going to the next show near you! (And keep a tight grip on your wallet or cheque-book, friend, as they can get sorely challenged!)

And do NOT under-rate evil-bay (eBay.com). There is a lot of model stuff there, you can learn about lots of things you will never otherwise see, and often there are really good deals. But before you bid or buy-it-now, do a little homework on the web for prices, etc. And be sure you know the shipping costs before you buy it.

EBay is not always "cool"... While I have never been burned in over 300 deals on eBay - many folks have...

I've bought sever kits off e-bay and while I've never got burned I 'm not going to anymore.

In my experience everything really goes for "fair market value" or slightly below so there is no real "bargains" to be found. Plus you factor in what most sellers charge for shipping and "processing" it comes out right at or even higher than the local hobby shop. At best you save maybe five bucks and go through all that hassle

You might as well support a local business so you won't have to order everything online...

Just my .02$

Henry,
I have been using this site its user friendly, low prices and fast shipping in the US and you can track your order through them. Spent a lot of money here and never had a problem.

Also I have been buying kits from guys on this site, 4 times and all have been very good, sent pictures of items or good description, and well packaged without any problems.

Good luck and welcome aboard.

Hi Henry,

Here are three places that I deal with and have never had any problems of any kind with them.

Squadron.com
Towerhobbies.com
M.J. Rudy's Scale Models Etc.

M.J. is a very honest person and she will also keep an eye out for an item you are looking for. I have been dealing with her since the early 90s and I highly recommend her.

Welcome to the hobby and don't hesitate to ask for anything you need help with. There are a great bunch of modelers here.

Squadron and Dragon USA get my vote.
I've used both off and on over the years as the U.S. and Canadian $'s exchange rates have gone up and down.
Cheers

Sprue Brothers in Missouri is a good retailer. Very fast, accurate inventory (what you see is really on hand).

I've had great luck with Luckymodel.com as well as any of the above mentioned sites...and ebay is still the one for finding odd or old kits so long as the sellers send me what they show me on the auction. Only 3 times I've been unhappy due to a seller sending me a kit that wasn't what was shown...one revell 1/32 stuka that had different decals from what I wanted - he totally refunded the $ and told me to keep the kit, another kit was a semi where it said it was new and the frame was started - total refund and got to keep the kit and the recent one was a '57 chrysler 300 kit that had the stock motor I needed for a resin curbside '58 Fury I had and the seller sends the custom kit version with a different motor...got a refund on that one and found the right kit afterwards.
Know your prices and add S/H when shopping ebay and you can come out fine...95% or better of the time I guess. They still need to get the buyer's return S/H refunded due to a seller's mistake but so far the folks I've dealt with have either let me keep the kit or sepparately refunded the added S/H to my paypal account.....so I really can't complain, too much.
Just an example of the deals had on ebay, I just got two of the Mack AC tanker kits rereleased out from GMScustoms shop on ebay...he had the kits on sale for $12,95 each with $11 S/H while my LHS has the same kit for $26 sans tax.

Not too surprizing, is it, the stunning range of opportunities and purveyors out there who might meet our desires! And the fans and supporters of many!

No "sage" advice I can offer on who or which is "best" - I am sure most of us in the hobby have dealt with many over the years, and most of those experiences have been, at the least, satisfactory.

But... for what it is worth: remember! At the end of the day, ALL of these sources are people. There WILL be mistakes and wrong kits and not-what-you-thought-you-were-getting, and (seldom but it happens) even cases where you never got it and lost your money. No one source will be perfect- defined by always having everything you want, at the lowest price and the best service and the fastest, cheapest shipping.

I shop around and compare. If you have some doubts about a possible deal - just skip it! It's a hobby, not a do-or-die! (OK, SOMETIMES it comes close, like that CyberHobby "M.Wittman" Tiger I early kit 6350 sealed I bought off eBay 3 months ago for 29.00 plus shipping ). Cheers, and Best of Luck as you shop!

Hello Henry,

There is plenty of good vendors to choose from. That said, I invite you and any others members of kitmaker to visit my business JAC Hobbies http://www.jachobbies.com I know you would be pleased with the service offered.

All the best,
