I am currently embarked on the Academy 1/35 M3A1 Stuart. Instead of using the link and length threads, I have decided to use the rubber threads instead.
After I sprayed on a coat of Gunze surfacer 1200, and dark brown, I tried to fit the threads into the wheels. To my horror, the paint started chipping off!!
Any advise what I can do?

The basic problem is the vynil tracks are flexible, but dried paint isn't. I've never had much luck with this, so given the chance I use the link & length plastic tracks. Sorry.

Seng Chai,
There was a thread on this sometime back -- try searching for "Painting Vinyl Tracks". IIRC the key is give it a good primer coat for the paint to bite on. Check the thread out -- It'll give you some tips that you can try.
In my case what I do is to make sure the vinyl tracks are thoroughly washed with soap and water, put a good prime coat, then paint on. I then brush on Future -- for me this seems to be the magic formula. So far it has worked -- no cracks, no chips even with constant handling.
Cheers,
Tat

Hello,
There is the Badger Model Flex paint that may be of help.
It is a paint that is designed with elasticity to it. I have
friends who use it for their mini vinyl figures, and as these figures
are handled frequently, this paint really sticks well and does not
peel.
It is available in 3 finishes and 177 different colors.
Here is a link :

Hope this helps,
