As a Carpenter/builder I am looking into how multi-story buildings were supported in ww2 Europe. In photos you see many buildings with their entire innards collapsed but no detail as to how the flooring josts connected to the out side walls or how they were supported in buildings where the span is greater than say 10 meters. Were the joists supported by internal masonry wall? Or perhaps steel a skeleton? I know how US buildings prewar buildings were built from cold water flats to Row town houses. I would just like to know some details as I have some long term plans which include parts of buildings. Thanks for any help.
