Despite extensive websearching, my quest for finding actual 1960's era hippie car examples has turned up naught. I've found art car pictures, but other than the Beatles' Rolls Royce and Janis Joplin's Porsche, I've found no actual examples of fancily-painted cars by hippies from the old days, just modern-day replicas. Where else can I look? Thanks.

Most of them were fairly normal/contemporary vehicles. The first and best example of mass-hippie transportation that came to my mind was the famous traffic jam leading to Woodstock.....Google "Woodstock Traffic Jam". There's some painted autos mixed in there as well.

You can try Google "Hippie auto". Though I think many of the fanciful paint scheme vehicles are recreations/reproductions of a theme as most real era vehicles probably did not make it past the mid 70s. Or are not in any viewable condition.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately that route failed too.

I was thinking along the lines of old news photographs, movies, etc. I did see the movie I Love You, Alice B. Toklas! with Peter Sellers, which had a scene where a casket had to be transported using an old hippie panel van because of a hearse drivers' strike. I was wondering if there was anything else.

I seen to recall a VW "Flower Power" Bus model, but I dont remember the manufacturer. Maybe an old AMT kit. I know not much help, LOL. Good Luck in your search, milvehfan
