Nico,
you've got the Imperial War Museum and a couple of little ones inside the Tower of London. If I'd be you I'll jump on a train with my camera and a few million of new films and i'll head straight to the Bovington Tank Museum in Dorset. There you'll find so much staff to drive you crazy!!!
Ciao and ava a nice holiday

I've been to the Imperial War Museum. The thing I remember is all the fantastic wooden sailing ship models. Also, the British Museum is a must see. LOts of unbelievable stuff in there, especially all the ancient Egyptian stuff.

You could also head north up the M11 to Duxford where they have a large collection of aircraft plus a land warfare Museum,There is also the Raf Museum at Hendon and if you like ships HMS Belfast on the Thames or the Cutty Sark at Greenwich.

I also would like to recommend the Sience museum, they have a large collection on German wwII rocket technology.
Also the cabinet war rooms is worth while http://www.iwm.org.uk/cabinet/index.htm, it a small museum so perhaps you can fit it in somewhere.

Bovington is definately the place to be, when you're into WWII armour !!! I've been there in my younger years and I'll go back within the next two !!

:-) The RAF museum at Hendon is a stones throw from Hannants London shop, which itself is next door to Collingdale tube station :-)
