Hello,
I'm fairly new to this site & have only returned to AFV modelling after a 25 year break!
I live in the Sidcup, Kent area & I'm looking for AFV model clubs in the SE London/ North Kent area.
I am into AFV's & figures regarding the war in Vietnam 1965-1973.
Can anybody point me in the right direction, please?
All help would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Joe.

Hi Joe,

Well what do you know I also live in Sidcup!

I attend IPMS SE London which meets on the second Thursday of the month at 19:30hrs for two hours in the West Greenwich community centre (old town hall) near the train station. We're a small club and although like our modelling we are not serious at our meeting and have a great laugh.

Andy (Bigskip) and Richard (Dogegg) are also members. Richard is into Vietnam while the rest of us are mainly into aircraft from fabric and string all the way to modern but will have a go at most things. We display at a lot of shows in the SE area and welcome any new comers.

The only other club I'm aware of meets in Sevenoaks I think.

If you want more info PM me.

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your reply. I am arranging with Luciano to meet up & get to the next meeting.
I cant wait! I've got lots of kits to build & as you know some can be quite expensive so I really want to try & get the most out of them without messing them up!
I hope to see you there, too.
Thanks again.
Joe.

Joe,

For pure armour there's also a MAFVA (miniature AFV association) branch in London, and one in Essex (that meets in Hornchurch, about 20min from Sidcup by car...) that I belong to. The Essex branch meets on the first Tuesday of each month, and can be found putting on displays at shows like Trucks&Tracks in Folkstone (was this weekend), The MAFVA Nationals at Duxford (June 6 this year), our own club show in August, etc. They're a great bunch of friendly folk, always happy to share tips and advice. Drop me a line if interested and I'll pass on some contact details.

Note that the details on the main MAFVA website are very out of date - both in terms of the contact and the venue. Even MMI hasn't got it updated yet in their club listings...

Tom
