Is it me or are there others. This is a topic of curiousity.
Now, I want to build a large collection of Artillery models the
problem I find is lack of self discipline and I am sure I'm not the only one.
For example, the other week I walked into my model shop to buy Trumpeter's
AS90 SPG. Walks into the shop, first thing I see, big box, Airfix's Nimrod.
Yep I walk out with the Nimrod. Is there a cure for this problem. Are there
others out there with the same, there must be!
I have a stash of about 30 models, only 6 are Artillery, am I losing it.

No Stuart you're not alone! I walk into a shop for JUST GLUE ( I always promise myself ) and always wind up walking out with a new kit, to add to the 300+ kits at home.
You're an old Artilleryman but love aircraft. There's nothing wrong with that.
I'm retired Infantry. I'll go into a shop for an AFV kit but if I see an XB-70 kit I have to have it.
We're all like that!

Prob is Matt, it's not just aircraft, month or so back went in to buy a couple of paintbrushes
(still have'nt got an airbrush) and walked out with a flippin DUKW! Mind you it did have a 105
howitzer on top, so a vauge link to artillery lol.

We are all subject to the damn box art and how big the box is. Best one I can think of is going into a toy shop as my wife collected Beanie-Babies, they had a small model selection and we left with no Beanie-Babies and a 1/48th scale B1.

There used to be a railroad hobby shop here in town that had a pretty good model selection too, including a vast collection of second-hand kits. I'd go in there for paint or something and walk out with about a dozen kits. I guess I was mesmerised by all that retro artwork on the box covers! But the prices were great - even picked up a few collector items, old Tamiya kits and such - the Stug III kit that came with the dwarf paratroopers, really really old version of the Panzer III, etc. I remember picking up a new DML Panzer III control tank and Borgward for $25. It's so bad my girlfriend forced me to rent a 10 x 10 storage locker at Public Storage! Now when I need to look at my kits I have to drive 10 blocks...

Well, I have 7 incomplete tanks, 1 incomplete AT gun, 1 incomplete airplane, 2 incomplete dios, and 26 (minimum!) incomplete figures sitting on my desk. For me the problem isn't buying kits - I'm fifteen, so that makes buying difficult but its finishing stuff up without starting a new one! I only have three kits in the stash - the others are works in progress!

Got back into the hobby a couple of years ago after watching band of brothers and promised myself that I was going to start off with a Sherman or two plus a couple of half-tracks - haven't even bought one! But I do have plenty of aircraft kits and modern armour sitting there ready to go and half completed!

It happens us all: I went into the LHS for a tin of paint and walked out with a 1/72 Gato under my arm! Biggest kit I ever did....

Even when buying on-line I end up with extra tools accessories etc just to justify the postage! ;-)

Well, I recently registered on a swiss e-bay type site to sell (!!) off a few kits I didn't want anymore. Well, so far I have spent more money on new kits on that site than I got from selling... Although in terms of kit numbers I have sold more than I bought...

Cheers!

300 kits that is two lifetimes there lucky you are retired.

Well there is no answer what ever gets you wanting to build.

I have 5 plane kits when I had a run of wanting to build planes none have been built except the P-38 lighting.

I need to swap those off for a couple of Armor or Artillery models.

Anybody interested in a Corsair 7 E with the seamless sucker intake?

How about a A -10 Hog from Tamiya?

Okay a P-51 from Tamiya 1/48 scale?

Last one a Skyraider.

Okay kidding but heck buy what you want but do not buy more then one or two as they will sit in closet collecting dust.

Hard to stay on track some times.
Enjoy it all fun and each different kit opens up different ideas on weathering and such.
Airplanes don't get the heavy dust and mud as tanks do.
Submarines neither more of the Rust colors ,so you see opens up different ways of doing things but you can learn more from each different build.

Cheers
