priming brass rod

hi all,

i'm using brass rod for the first time on my seaplane campaign and wondered whats the best way of priming it.
i normally use tamiya fine grey from the can but i also have mr surfacer etc.

Either one of those should work fine just make sure to give the brass a little buffing with fine sand paper and then de-grease it with lacquer thinner before using the primer.
