I have fruil tracks for an m4a1 that is hidden in the stash. got them cleaned couple of weeks ago and i though on building the track links "to have a go" at them. each link is made from 2 parts that supposed to be glued with CA glue together. so i thought, if i glue them with CA, the seem may be seen after assembly but if I solder them the tin would probably take care of that. is this possible? have someone tried it and can share tips?

Hello, I personally would not try it, the tracks are made of an alloy which melts quickly ( and is very likely to contain lead )...

Matan, yep like Arpad said above, they would melt. The white metal the track links are made of is too soft to solder, the CA is about your best choice.

In Tony Greenland's 'Panzer Modelling Masterclass', he states that he solders white metal tracks together. However, he uses extremely low temperature solder, and a pyrogravure instead of a soldering iron, otherwise the links will melt.
So it is technically possible.

thanks. i guess CA glue is the way to go then (don't know where to get pyrogravure). anyway, what should I do about the seems?

Would either a thick CA , or a 2 part epoxy glue work for covering the seam? A water based glue like JB Weld may work, allowing easier clean up of the seam with a wet q-tip before it dries, but I'm not sure if it would offer enough strength.

Just guessing here, haven't actually worked with white metal yet....
