I don't recall seeing an article for spruce trees specifically, but what I did was modify this one http://armorama.kitmaker.net//features/135. Obviously the shape is different and I used a goldenrod type weed from an empty lot for the boughs.

Unfortunately this tree is no longer with us and I haven't gotten around to any more pine experiments, but you never know...
