I just wanted to give my best wishes to all former, active, and retired Devil Dogs. Once a Marine, always a Marine. 234 years and going strong. We are with those in harms way in spirit and corps. Semper Fidelis

Best wishes to all USMC! A consultant I was working with today had his Marine lapel pin on and said he always meets up with some of his friends on this day. He served during Vietnam. I need to call my dad, as said...once a Marine, always a Marine.

A friend of mine from The Basic School ( 41 years ago) forwarded this link to me today. I think you'll enjoy it.

To all 'Devil Dogs' Happy Birthday Marines. Semper Fi. Carry On..

Just found this quote - sort of sums up all you wanted to know about the US MARINES - and why they have been kicking arse and taking names for over 200 years.

• I have only two men out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold. Since this is the Birthday thread. I thought I would post this here. I just hope it works. My Father in law ( a former Marine). Sent this to me.

This is a conversation overheard on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai . It's too good not to pass along..

The conversation went like this...
Iranian Air Defense Radar: 'Unknown aircraft you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.'
Aircraft: 'This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.'
Air Defense Radar: 'You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!'
Aircraft: 'This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send 'em up, I'll wait!'
Air Defense Radar: (no response .... total silence)

You gotta love a response like that.
