I am thinking about buying the complete set of the Sharpe's series and would like to know what you think about the series? I am buying it used, very good condition, is it worth the $200.00 price tag? Pros and cons please.

The series is pretty entertaining, but it does depart from the story line of the books in many ways.I read the books first and then saw the series, and was somewhat disappointed,I guess due to budget restraints the series kind of scale everything down from what you read in the book. For example the movie made Sharpe + Harpers capturing of the Eagle look small and easy.Waterloo looked small, and so did Enemy. But that being said,if you seperateit from the book,it's not bad on it's own.But it is definitly not faithful to the book series.

Great set of dvds and books. There are a couple of versions of the newer Sharpe in India vids. One for UK tv at 120 min. and one for US , about 100 mins to allow for commercials.
The one from 2006 (can't remember name, packed for moving) has a topless scene.
Original set from 90s was 14 vids and a making of. Since then made 1 in 06 and I think 08.
All in all I still prefer the books Jim (still need to get 08 )
