Hi All. I just joined and enjoy browsing these boards. I've learned so much already. I used to build models as a kid but never ventured further than hand painting a few parts and gluing everyhing together.
I'm looking to really jump back into this hobby with a focus on diorama's and realistic military vehicles. I've read some great reviews on airbrushes and compressors but was looking for more input from the pros out there. Could anyone recommend some quality airbrushes and compressors for a beginner?
I'm looking to purchase a quality brush that will last long and is easy to clean. One that is good for base coats and very fine detail (if such an airbrush exists). Looking forward to your responses.
Thanks in advance and I look forward to contributing on these boards.

Hi Michael and welcome to Armorama. In my experience, the brush you describe is the Iwata HP-C+ . Cranked wide open it will shoot a whole tank, but dialed down it will do pencil lines. It is easy to clean and maintain and will last a lifetime.
Compressors are less important. You can use a Porter-Cable from Wal-Mart or a high end model from Iwata.

Great, thanks. Sometimes, the more I read, the more confused I get. Thanks for the advice. Think I'll get this combo from amazon:

That's a decent set up at a very good price.

Have a look at Harder & Steenback airbrushes as well.....their new airbrush out looks to be "the bomb" and from a couple of reviews I have read, every bit as good as an Iwata Micron, and cheaper to boot!
